Melissa Anders DiPonio began her dancing career at the age of 4 in South Bend, Indiana. She has an extensive background in several disciplines including ballet, jazz, and tap. At the age of 15 she attended Shattuck St. Mary's School with the intention of becoming performer on broadway. But here she would discovered the world of ballroom dancing and began her formal training. At age 19, Melissa entered into the professional pro circuit consistently placing in the top three throughout the midwest and pacific-west competitions. She moved to the Detroit area in 2000 to continue her career, teaching and competing.
Melissa retired from competition after marriage, when she became pregnant with her son, Deano. Now she lives her passion through teaching ballroom dance and has recently started her own dance organization, Detroit Dancesport, which offers a variety of social and competitive classes, private lessons, and fitness dance.
