Emily Borus
Guest Director

Emily, SOCB president and principal clarinetist, graduated with her degree in music from the University of Michigan in 1994. She also holds an M.A. in business administration from Walsh College and her teaching certification from Wayne State University in Detroit.

While living in the south, Emily was the operations manager for the Nashville Symphony. Here in Michigan, she has worked as an instrumental music coach and instructor, a host for the MSBOA Solo and Ensemble festivals, and conductor for various ensembles. In addition, she is a substitute teacher for Rochester Community Schools.

Emily serves as treasurer for the Detroit alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota and is a member of the International Clarinet Association. She also holds memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, and the Michigan Music Educators Association.

Emily resides in Shelby Township with her husband, also a SOCB member, and her two children, Charlie and Mary.
